Yam's Kitchen @ Jalan Leban Food Tasting

A new dine-out place to recommend for people living in the North:
Yam's Kitchen @ Jalan Leban

Yam's Kitchen offers a wide variety of authentic home cooked Zi Char cuisine. There are currently 2 outlets in Singapore, Jalan Leban and Downtown East. Since opening in 2011, Yam's Kitchen has received numerous good reviews for providing quality food at affordable price. This is also the reason why I would want to go back for a second time too. I love the food so much.

A glimpse of the interior, a very Chinese style restaurant.

This flagship outlet is helmed by Chef Kelvin Yam who has more than 20 years of experience in culinary experience. He had also achieved gold medals in the Asia competitions in recognition of his excellent cooking skill and creativity in Chinese cuisine:

- Gold Medal at the International Youth Chef Competition 2009 in China
- Gold Medla at International Chinese Culinary Competition in China Wulumuqi
- Gold Medal at 7th World Championship Chinese Cuisine in 2012

There are 2 VIP rooms available at Jalan Leban outlet where you can have your family gathering or company lunch/dinner. Private and cosy.

Having ice lemon tea.
Let's kickstart the feast.

Salted Egg Fish Skin

This is one of my favourite dish. Coated with salted egg, every bite of the fish skin is crispy and crunchy with a mild spice aftertaste. I also tried to dip it with their chilli sauce and it tasted brilliant, it immediately spiced up my appetite.

Fragrant Wine Pork Belly & Smoked Duck Wrapped in Crepe served on a boat

The pork belly is super tender in the inner and crunchy on the outer.
Don't be mistaken, the Smoked Duck Wrapped in Crepe is not Peking duck. It is made of mashed duck meat.

Deep Fried Fish Tail with Coconut Sauce (Chef's Recommendation)

This is a very popular signature dish of which the deep fried fish tail is smothered with a combination of sweet & tangy flavorful coconut sauce gives it a unique aromatic taste. The coconut sauce resembled the taste of laksa. The sauce was thick, tasty and spicy good. The crispy fried fish was flavoursome, I keep wanting for more.

3 Treasures Egg with Superior Stock & Daily Vegetables

This dish requires skillful cooking blend of salted egg, chicken egg & preserved egg with the superior stock made from salted egg yolk.

I'm not someone who like vegetables but this dish is an exception. I like the flavoursome broth and the softness of the veggie.

Pork Ball with Double Mushroom in Bean Paste Soup

My first time drinking soup that is made of soya bean. This is a healthy soup to go with during meal as it is good for our body and has no MSG. Love the huge dollops of juicy Pork Balls in silky smooth home-made Soya Bean Paste Soup.

Prawn in Spicy Milky Sauce accompanied with Fried KangKong

I like how Yam's Kitchen put in efforts to create little visual perfect details to beautify the dish.
The prawns were fresh and the milky sauce enhanced the sweetness of the prawns.

Braised Sea Cucumber with Pig's Trotter

This dish was being cooked for 6 hours to bring out the delicious flavour.

Tofu with Cai Poh & Meat Floss

A creative topping to go with for tofu. Instead of the usual bland tofu, Yam's Kitchen paired the tofu with Cai Poh & Meat Floss, giving it an extra flavour. It is simply delicious.

Penang Seafood Fried Kway Teow

Yet another spicy dish. This Fried Kway Teow is good to order for sharing because it is kind of spicy for me, I will not be able to finish alone.

Honey Lime Juice with Ai-Yu Jelly

A perfect dessert to order after a hearty meal. Just nice to go with after eating the Fried Kway Teow. It tasted refreshing.

Ended off our session with a group photo.
