A black and white wave is set to crash over Singapore in October.

The recent arrival of two giant pandas (Kai Kai and Jia Jia) in Singapore from China has sparked increased interest in panda conservation. We need to increase awareness of the need to protect the endangered species.

Renowned local and international artistes, designers and retailers have pledged their support to the Black & White movement, a public education movement in helping Chengdu Pambassador to raise awareness and support for the endangered panda.

Follow me to find out more:

Arriving at Amara Sanctuary Hotel for Chengdu Pambassador Press Conference.

I'm sure some of you have came across Chengdu Pambassador on facebook, because I did. For those who are clueless, let me give you a brief background.

Chengdu Pambassador 2012
A global initiative co-sponsored by the Chengdu Panada Base, WildAid and the Yao Ming Foundation. The program seeks to identify Pambassadors and combine their voices and energy in order to increase global awareness about giant pandas and give them a better chance at long-term survivability in their natural habitat.

Through the competition, contestants will have deeper knowledge about panda conservation, a series of challenges will be conducted to test their endurance, creativity and knowledge of, and passion for giant pandas.

The conference was held to mark the Chengdu Pambassador 2012 regional semi-finals, which kicked off on 13th October in Singapore. Twenty- four dedicated panda lovers and conservationists from all around Asia-Pacific will be competing over the next three days in their quest to become a Chengdu Pambassador.

Let's meet the the artistes and designers, and find out more about why they’re supporting Chengdu Pambassador as well as the representatives from the co-organizers of the Chengdu Pambassador program, Chengdu Panda Base and WildAid, at the press conference.

Mr Lee Mingxi, Manager of Chengdu Panda Base.

Mr Lee focuses on the management of feeding, breeding and research on nutrition for endangered species. For the past 10 years, he has been directly in-charge of more than 70 pandas. Some of the challenges faced were depletion of habitat and change in climate.

Next up was May Mei, Chief Representative of WildAid China.

May Mei has been operating WildAid's China project and has successfully managed several high profile conversation campaigns in China with top celebrities and Olympic gold medalists such as Yao Ming, Jackie Chan, Li Ning etc. for sharks, tigers and other endangered wildlife.

Following next was Juliet Simms, a rising star.

She is a singer/songwriter, touted by MTV as the next flesh-and-blood female rock star.

Juliet was so excited to be part of this campaign. She loved pandas a lot and she wanted to spread the awareness through music. Rock and roll can truly change the world.

Rising UK star Cher Lloyd at the press conference.

She was so beautiful and dolly-like.

Cher Lloyd has shared with us how artistes can help galvanize their fans to support certain causes through their influence of spreading out the message.

Last but not least, Kenny Lim, fashion designer of DEPRESSION.

Kenny always wanted to part of a meaningful cause like Pambassador campaign. Through the campaign, he wish to use fashion to to connect to the wider audience and influence change.

The movement kicks off on 13 October with The Panda Rock Out, a concert and fashion show that will officially mark the opening of the Chengdu Pambassador 2012 Asia-Pacific regional semi-finals.

Cher Lloyd who is famous for her No. 1 debut single "Swagger Jagger" will headline the event.
Are you excited?

After the end of press conference, we were heading to our next destination:

Pandamaze.

The guys were all feeling excited too.
Meet the panda mascots. Omg, why are they so cute???
They melted my heart. I couldn't resist myself but snapped a lot of pictures of them.

Hello everyone *wave*

Welcome to Singapore.
Singapore is gearing up to play host to Asia's most passionate panda's lovers.

Enjoy your stay in Singapore.

Don't play play.

Over the past month, participants from around the world have been competing for a chance to become the next Chengdu Pambassador. 24 semi-finalists from around the region will be arriving at the Pandamaze to meet the 2 cute panda mascots.

Tselyn and I took a picture with the cuties. Say cheese!!!
I'm in my panda outfit too, the black and white combination.

Gotcha. The pandas were kissing.
Kiss kiss and produce baby panda please.

True fact about panda:

Do you know that a female panda is only fertile for about 3 days in a year. That explains the low birth rate of pandas as it is very hard for them to breed. The male panda will have to check the correct timing.

Kissing at Singapore iconic place. Isn't it romantic?
Who want to bring me here next time?

We witnessed the induction of the Pandamaze, a key highlight of the Chengdu Pambassador 2012 events in Singapore. The bamboo forest-themed outdoor exhibition on Clifford Pier invites members of the public to test their panda knowledge by answering a series of questions. Correct answers lead to the right path through the maze.

I was stuck in the bamboo forest.
Help me!!!

Have you join their facebook page?

Kaviel completed the maze.
Go try it, the pandamaze will serve as a public exhibition, providing educational facts about panda conservation, open daily between 12 - 19 October.

Meet the 24 semi-finalists from 8 different countries which includes Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan and Republic of Korea.

They were so high the minute they saw the panda mascots.
See the poor panda, he couldn't even sit straight.
Ladies, please treat the panda with care (:

A big family portraits.
Who will emerge as the lucky 3 who will be recruited as Chengdu Pamassador?

Go, Team Singapore!

Juliet Simms was here at the Pandamaze showing support to the Black and White Movement.

Juliet Simms officially inducted the maze, showing off her knowledge of panda conservation by racing through the maze in just one minute and thirty seconds.

She has achieved her target. She has set her target initially to complete the maze in 2 minutes time.

Behind the scene:
The job of media.

The Chengdu Pambassador semi-finalists then had their turn at the maze, with the fastest time of one minute and six seconds being set by Chang Li Lin of Singapore.

Good job, Team Singapore!

Took a photo with Mr Lee Mingxi's translator.
With just 4 years of learning Chinese, he can already translate better than me.
Incredible!

credits William for the photo.
