Happening in February - Jack's Place + Guinness Live Round 49 + Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 3 Preliminaries

Wednesday 1/2/12

Meet up with clique on the first day of February for a dinner at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh located at 11 New Bridge Road. That's my second visit to the eatery.

I loved eating you tiao with Bak Kut Teh. I will dipped the fried dough into the soup.
No doubt that their soup and pork ribs are delicious, but I think they need to improve on their service and attitude.

After which, we have a chill out session at St James Beer Garden together with a glass of tiger beer:

Time for a tiger.
Warm ourselves up before heading in the Dragonfly.

Thursday 9/2/12

Old school days night with GF.

We were at Lasalle College of the Arts, sitting at the long bench which resembles those benches back in my primary school time. Missed those times. Er, don't be mistaken by that sentence. I do not miss those studying time but I missed the time that I spent with my friends in school where we had lunch together and having heart to heart talk.

Wednesday 15/2/12

Had my first visit to Breakthrough Cafe, recommended by my colleague. The cafe offers wide varieties of dim sum and local delights in a cozy setting environment which attracted many working it its vicinity at Upper Cross St.

One speciality of the cafe is that Breakthrough Cafe is run by ex-drug addicts who needed employment opportunities where they can further their skills and be better prepared in reintegrating into the society.

We tried their famous homemade Claypot Curry Chicken and dipped it with bread.

Chee Cheong Fun with Char Siew.
The look of it already make me drool, the taste of it is even shiok.

The Fried Dumplings are amazing. When they were being served, I was wondering the fried dumplings looked like frozen dumpling. It seems so hard unlike those I usually had which looked deep fried and oily on the surface.

Saturday 18/2/12

Had my high tea session together with GF at The White Rabbit, a classic European Restaurant & Bar located off the Dempsey area of Singapore.
A very quiet place to relax.

GF and I are meeting up frequently more than usual now.
I'm sorry if I neglected all my other good friends. Quick come arrange a meetup with me soon okay.

Tuesday 21/2/12

Settled down for lunch at Jack's Place.

Soup of the day.
The soup is nice and thick, I liked it.

Having Deep Fried Dory Fillet - crispy and yet soft.

Dessert and tea at long last.
Never neglect your tummy, eat all you want and live all troubles till tomorrow.

Had my dinner with the usual at Nando's Plaza Singapura again. Seems like we are missing their famous grilled Peri-Peri chicken.

This time round we had the Peri-fect Platters and the famous grilled peri-peri chicken.
Dinner with friends is always awesome - a time where everyone can settle down to enjoy our meal and chit-chat session.

It's Guinness Live night again, so after our dinner. We make our way down to Shanghai Dolly to support Regine as today is her last match.

With the Trio.

Mentor Fatt Zhai warming up the match with his cantonese song.

That electric guitarist from Queen Band.

Today PK match: Regine from team Shanghai Dolly vs Howie from team Firefly.

I was impressed by Howie's second song - 我吃得起苦 by 动力火车

That's a very meaningful and touching song. Howie has sang it great. It has captured the heart of many audience.

Regine brought us great songs that night too - Telephone by Lady Gaga.
Yes, I liked Lady Gaga's song. She is awesome.

As this song required a pair singing. Benita from team Shanghai Dolly team up with Regine for this song, covering her during the chorus.

Both Regine and Howie have put up a tough fight today. And after the voting, Howie has win the match with the score of 89 vs Regine's 84.

Congratulations Howie.
Don't be dishearted, Regine. You have did equally well (:

Fort Canning Photoshoot with the Trio

I have a fruitful day spent with GF and William today.
We have some really nice photoshoot done at Fort Canning Park.

Actually all along, we have been planning to go for an outdoor shoot together with several places in mind. Since today the three of us are free in the afternoon. We decided to head to Fort Canning Park for our first trio shoot.

Here are some of the awesome photos we took:

While William is setting up, I have my usual camwhoring with GF.

To match the theme of our shoot, we are all dressed in white today.

I loved the greenery of the park. At here, I felt the peace that I longed for which eased my mind from the stressful nature of our fast-paced society.

Can you feel the love <3

Welcome to Fort Canning Park.
It's a nice place worth visiting.

The trio - William, GF, and I.

Number ourselves - 3, 2, 1

Love all these pictures. We looked uniformly good in white against the background. Couldn't resist to take more pictures!!!

Lets keep our friendship going.

We have so much fun and laughter during the shoot.

Found this little platform where we try out some cool poses:

Inspired from Steven Lim and Aaron Tan - 我要打十个

How about Shaolin Eagle Claw Kung Fu?

So white and pure.

I was teasing them when took this picture. It seems like a family portrait - like Daddy and Mummy bringing me out for an excusion (:

Embraced by the beautiful sunset with sunlight streaming.

If you are like us, fancy for a relaxing place to visit and spend your day idyllically. Do consider coming to Fort Canning Park and visit one of Singapore's most historic landmarks.

Cocktail and Dinner Party at Grand Mercure Roxy Singapore

Thanks to Grand Mercure Roxy Singapore, I have the privilege to embark on a tour of the brand new level 4 facilities and a get together dinner with fellow bloggers.

Before I embarked on the quick tour, let me give you some quick facts of the hotel:

Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel, a hotel that is nestled in the heart of historical Katongl, a heritage area of East Coast of the city in Peranakan culture.

The hotel is just 15 minutes ride from Changi Airport, it is close to everything you need for an authentic and total Singapore travel experience for both leisure and business travelers. Easy access to the city, main tourist sites, shopping hubs, famous eateries and walking distance to the beach at East Coast Park. Not to mention, travelers can also enjoy free WiFi Internet throughout the Hotel.

50 East Coast Road, Roxy Square
(Opposite Parkway Parade Shopping Centre)

Presenting to you the newly designed facilities on Level 4:

Lets take a look at the 32sqm Deluxe Room. It's so spacious and cosy, offering a home-away-from home sanctuary.

The interior design of the bathtub is made of glass, which means you can see through the bathtub. Wow, perfect for couple or newly weds ♥
But not to worry, there is curtain to be drawn out for privacy.

For more information, please visit http://www.grandmercureroxy.com.sg/

There is also a backdoor which can give us the direct access to swimming pool.
After a tiring day at work, I feel so good sitting down and relaxing by the poolside.

Enjoying the short moment of peace and forget everything about the stressful urban life.

The trio at the poolside.

Not only do we have a nice view of the swimming pool, we get to enjoy the food and beverage selections from breez bistro.bar:

Having a glass of mocktail.

Wide selection of canapés being served to us.

Here are some of the finger food we pick:

Cod Fish with Miso
Crab Cake with Mayo compote
Mini Wagyu Pate with Quail Egg on Toast

After the cocktail session, we proceed to Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant for our six-course dinner.

Time to dig in.

First course up is 4 different types of dim sum:

Deep-fried Seafood Roll with Mixed Fruit.
The roll is being brushed with a layer of wasabi on the top. Wow, that's quite a creative combination which result in pretty good taste. Thumb up.

Siew Mai with Cordyceps Flower.

The siew mai is delicious, one is definitely not enough for me. I'm a typical chinese who loves dim sum!!

Deep-fried Prawn Dumpling with Shark’s Fin.
I love the crispiness of the roll, yum yum!

Steamed Scallop Dumpling tastes so fresh.

2nd course up: Double Boiled Fish Maw Soup with Cordyceps Flower, Abalone and Conpoy.

Initially I thought that oh gosh, it's gonna taste like herbal soup with the look at it. But surprisely, it is not. The soup tastes incredibly good and I finished every sip of it.

Red wine to go along with our meal.

My favourite course: Peking Duck.
Wow, it looked so mouth-watering.

The peking duck's skin is so crispy and thin. Together with the wrapping, it tastes really scrumptious.

Deep-fried Butter Prawn.

By the look of it, you know it is delectable.
Are you already drooling seeing all the yummy food?

Dipping it into the sauce, the prawn meat is succulent.

Next up is Braised Beancurd with Luffa Melon, Crabmeat and Crab Roe.

The beancurd is indeed appetizing, I love the softness of the beancurd and the flavouring too. It's simply delicious.

We have Laksa as one of our course too.
I must say the laksa has spiced up my appetite. It's really hot and spicy! Wooh, gobbled myself with more water.

Last but not least, we have Durian Paste & Durian Cake Delight for dessert.

Dinner will not be complete without having dessert.

Gonna admit that I'm not really a durian person. I don't fancy eating durian due to the strong smell.
But however for the durian cake, the amount of durian in it is just right for me.

On the other hand, the durian paste taste is a little stronger than the cake. Nevertheless, I still managed to finish the cup of it.
The durian paste simply just melt when I put in my mouth.

Thanks William for the photo.

Once again, I will like to thank Grand Mercure Roxy Singapore for the kind invitation of arranging such a cosy get together with the bloggers. I have a great dinner and exploration round the hotel.
